IMPORTANT NEWS!
FOURTH FRIDAY HAS MOVED TO A NEW VENUE. OUR POPULAR MONTHLY EVENT IS NOW HELD AT THE MONTAGUE/URSCHEL GALLERY OF THE PORTER COUNTY MUSEUM, 20 INDIANA AVENUE, VALPARAISO. SEE MAP AND DIRECTIONS BELOW.
GILLES CHARRIERE was born in Dijon, Burgundy, France. He served in the French Navy and worked as a shopkeeper and computer programmer. But his passion was flying, and he came to the USA with a dream of becoming a pilot. Some twenty-two years ago, he was hired by United Airlines. Gilles moved to Valparaiso in 2000. Since becoming an American citizen in 2017, he has become active in local politics.
Gilles was assisted in his presentation by Mathilde Pires Delor. She is an exchange student at Valparaiso University from La Rochelle, France. Mathilde is working on a bachelor’s degree in business at VU.
Gilles and Mathilde entertained an appreciative Fourth Friday crowd with a presentation about the culture and history of France. Typical French treats were offered to taste.
