El Salvador – Fourth Friday – May 2026

This month’s Fourth Friday Speaker Series will take us to the vibrant and beautiful country of El Salvador through the personal story of our featured speaker, Rosa Wiegel.

We invite you to join us on Friday, May 22, 2026, for an evening filled with culture, conversation, and traditional Salvadoran hospitality.

Fourth Friday Speaker Series
Friday, May 22, 2026
7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Trinity Lutheran Church
201 N. Washington
Valparaiso, Indiana

Rosa Wiegel was born and raised in Nahuizalco, a small community in the Sonsonate region of El Salvador. Her journey has taken her across several countries and cultures—from studying Agribusiness Administration at Zamorano University in Honduras, to working in the field of animal genetics in the United States through a program with The Ohio State University.

In 2022, Rosa began a new chapter in America, where she later met her husband, James Wiegel. Today, she lives in Valparaiso and works as a Neonatal Technician at eGenesis, a company focused on xenotransplantation research.

During the evening, Rosa will share:

  • Stories about growing up in El Salvador
  • Insights into Salvadoran traditions and family life
  • Reflections on learning English and adapting to life in the United States
  • The beauty and cultural richness of modern El Salvador
  • Traditional Salvadoran food and hospitality

Rosa’s story is one of perseverance, education, family, and cultural pride. She is especially excited to help others better understand the warmth, kindness, and strong community values of the Salvadoran people.

Whether you enjoy travel, food, culture, or simply hearing inspiring personal stories, this promises to be a meaningful and welcoming evening.

We hope you’ll join us and bring a friend along for another wonderful Fourth Friday gathering. This event is free and open to all.
