March Fourth Friday – Featuring Pedram Etebari
March Fourth Friday Featured Pedram Etebari and His Journey from Iran to the United States
The Valparaiso International Center’s March 2026 Fourth Friday Speaker Series welcomed guests for an engaging and inspiring evening with Pedram Etebari, who shared his personal story of immigration, family, perseverance, and Iranian culture.
Originally, the March program had been scheduled to feature Dalton “Scotty” Turnbull presenting on Jamaica following January’s weather-related cancellation. However, due to a last-minute scheduling conflict, Scotty was unable to participate. We are deeply grateful to Pedram Etebari for stepping in on short notice and delivering a thoughtful and meaningful presentation.
The event was held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Valparaiso, Indiana.
Born and raised in Kerman, Iran, Pedram came to the United States in 2012 with his sister, beginning a journey shaped by sacrifice, resilience, and opportunity. During the presentation, he reflected on the challenges of adapting to life in a new country while pursuing education and building a future for himself and his family.
Pedram later graduated from Valparaiso University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science and has since become a local business owner and personal trainer at FiTrain. Attendees enjoyed hearing about his experiences balancing entrepreneurship, fatherhood, and cultural identity while establishing roots in Northwest Indiana.
A particularly touching part of the evening centered on family. Pedram spoke about becoming reunited with his mother after successfully helping her obtain a visa to come to the United States, as well as his life as a father of two young sons and his recent engagement to his fiancée, Samantha.
Guests also learned more about Iranian culture and heritage through Pedram’s personal stories and reflections. His presentation encouraged meaningful conversation about immigration, identity, and the importance of maintaining cultural connections while embracing new beginnings.
The Valparaiso International Center thanks Pedram Etebari for sharing his journey and everyone who attended this memorable evening of cultural exchange and community connection.
