Featuring Akhtar Zaman, a Bangladeshi born Civil Engineer. 

Since independence in 1972, Bangladesh went through a number of challenges but now it is considered one of the fastest growing economies in the world according to the World Bank. A densely populated but religiously diversified country, Bangladesh is a land of many interesting and fun facts. If you like to know more about this small south Asian country, please join us at VIC 4th Friday presentations on August 25th at 7 pm. Akhtar Zaman, a Bangladeshi born Civil Engineer will share various facts and information about Bangladesh.

Akhtar Zaman was born and raised in Dhaka, which is the capital city of Bangladesh. He completed his BS in Civil Engineering from BUET, Dhaka, in 1992. After working in Dhaka for about 2 years, he migrated to the USA for higher studies. He completed his MS degree in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering from Texas Tech University. After working in Dayton, OH for about 1.5 years, Akhtar and his family then moved to NW Indiana in 1998 and living in the area since then. Akhtar is Professional Engineer (PE) in the States of IN, IL, MI and WI. He is currently the Principal Engineer at Advanced Engineering Services (AES) of Hammond, IN.

Akhtar along with his wife Zeenat and two Children is living in the NW Indiana for the last 25 years. Zeenat works at AES as an Admin Associate. Daughter Omnya is also a Professional Civil Engineer and now working in NY and son Rayhan is currently pursuing BS degree in Computer Engineering at PNW. In his spare time, Akhtar plays acoustic guitar, listens to music and like to hike/explore various local trails and attractions.
