June 4th Friday – Chile
Explore Chilean Culture and Immigration Stories with Daniel Goldfarb at the June Fourth Friday Event
Daniel Goldfarb shared stories and images from his recent family trip to Chile, highlighting the country’s dynamic culture and natural beauty. His presentation included reflections on travel to Santiago and the Patagonia region, as well as a deeper exploration of his personal journey as an immigrant.
About the Presentation:
From late December 2024 through early January 2025, Daniel and his family—Julia, George, and Caleb—traveled to Chile to visit relatives and explore the country’s southern landscape. This included their first visit to Patagonia and time spent in Santiago, where they reconnected with cultural landmarks and vibrant neighborhoods such as Italia, Buena Vista, and Plaza Ñuñoa. Daniel will share photos from the trip and offer a personal view of Chile’s welcoming music, food, and community life.
Daniel will reflected on his life as an immigrant—first from Chile to Venezuela during the political unrest of the 1970s, and later from Venezuela to the United States. Drawing from decades of personal experience, he explored the emotional impact of immigration, the meaning of home, and the shared stories of those who journey to new lives in unfamiliar places.
The Valparaiso International Center’s Fourth Friday series offers a space for global connection through storytelling, culture, and conversation.
