After our November and December holiday break, we are delighted to announce the return of the Fourth Friday Speaker Series. We invite you to join us on Friday, January 23, 2026, as we kick off the new year with a compelling and personal presentation featuring Dalton “Scotty” Turnbull.
Event Details:
Date: Friday, January 23, 2026
Time: 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Location: Trinity Lutheran Church
201 N. Washington, Valparaiso, Indiana
Dalton “Scotty” Turnbull was born on the beautiful island of Jamaica, in Springfield Caron Hall, St. Mary’s Parish. As the eldest of five children on his mother’s side and one of fourteen on his father’s side, Scotty grew up surrounded by family, community, and strong cultural traditions. He attended City Mission Basic School, Time and Patience Primary School, Rosemount All Age School, and McGrath Secondary School.
A gifted athlete, Scotty was a sprinter and soccer player, earning the title of champion sprinter for three consecutive years. He is also talented in music and dance. After high school, he worked in sales at local markets and later with WINDALCO (West Indies Aluminum Company) in mechanical maintenance. In 2023, Scotty made the life-changing decision to come to the United States in pursuit of new opportunities.
During this Fourth Friday presentation, Scotty will share stories of his upbringing, education, and life on one of the world’s most well-known islands. He will also reflect on the emotional experience of being far from home during Jamaica’s most recent hurricane and discuss the ongoing recovery efforts months later.
We look forward to welcoming you back for this meaningful evening of storytelling, cultural connection, and global perspective.
