Lubos Barton

Lubos Barton is a native from Ceska Lipa, located in the northern part of Czech Republic, Born in 1980 (Czechoslovakia back then), Lubos left his country for the first time along with his brother Jerry at the age of 18.

Lubos entered Valparaiso University in 1998 on a scholarship to play basketball.  He graduated in 2002 and went on to play professional basketball for 14 years in Italy and Spain.  He retired from playing in 2016 and began a coaching career in Barcelona, Spain.  Last year, Lubos returned to Valparaiso University and joined Roger Power and his staff coaching the Valparaiso University basketball team.

Lubos lives in Valparaiso with his wife, Kelly and children, Elizabeth and Bejamin.

Lubos highlighted his native Czech Republic at the Valparaiso International Center’s June 2024 Fourth Friday Speaker Series.  He covered the culture, cuisine, art and life in the Czech Republic and talked about his journey from a high school basketball player in the Czech Republic to basketball coach at Valparaiso University in Indiana.
