OXANA GRIGORYEVA was born and raised in Naberezhnye Chelny in the Republic of Tatarstan.  After studying English in her homeland, she came to the USA 16 years ago.  She lived in Cleveland and Chicago before settling in Valparaiso six  years ago.  She works here as a caregiver for the elderly.

Oxana witnessed the transition of her country from the USSR to the Russian Federation.  She described life in her home region through the eyes of someone from those tumultuous times.  And she shared some home-made treats, cakcak and Russian winter salad.
