Experience the Music and Culture of Mexico at the February Fourth Friday Event

The Valparaiso International Center invites the community to its February 2025 Fourth Friday event, featuring a special presentation on Mexican music and culture by Pancho and Carolyn Rodea. This engaging evening will showcase the beauty of the Spanish-speaking world through song, storytelling, and cultural insights.

About the Speakers:
Pancho and Carolyn Rodea have been singing and teaching together since they met in Pancho’s hometown of Puebla, Mexico. Pancho, a former Physical Education teacher in Mexico, met Carolyn when she traveled there to teach English. They later relocated to Indiana, Carolyn’s home state, where they became Spanish teachers and continued their shared passion for education and music.

Pancho holds teaching degrees from ENEF in Puebla, has pursued coursework toward a Master’s in Education from Universidad De Las Americas and Purdue University (now Northwest), and earned an M.A. from the American College of Education. Carolyn holds a B.A. from Valparaiso University and an M.A. from Indiana University. They have dedicated their careers to education throughout Indiana, most recently in Valparaiso.

  • Insightful discussion on the cultural significance of music in Latin America and Spain.
  • An interactive experience where attendees can engage with the performers and learn more about their musical and educational journey.

The Rodeas regularly perform at Don Quijote Restaurant and at cultural events throughout the region. Their passion for music and education makes this an event not to be missed!
